Lets make media covering real things affecting everyone and bring back stories which large news outlets don't cover anymore - from the grandmother raising money for charity in her lawn bowls club, through to community organisations pushing to make the world a better place... In the early to mid 1990s, while I worked at a local community radio station, I had to write and broadcast local news, which was outside of what I like to call the corporate narrative and in 2001, I did a TAFE module in Film and Media in a university preparation course. This module taught that metropolitan daily newspapers and the national papers reflected the market-based capital economy. There is nothing wrong with this approach, but by this time I already liked the idea of writing stories outside of the news silo format of the metropolitan dailies and that is exactly what I intend to do in this blog.
